MESA - A Mesa teacher was sentenced today for her relationship with Mesa Dobson High School student.

Gay Turley was sentenced to 10 months probation as part of a plea deal and must register as a sex offender.

She has already lost her teaching certificate,

She was sentenced on charges of sexual contact with a minor.

The former high school student involved, Charmai Choate, told 3TV she feels a sense of relief now that this chapter of her life is over. She said she’s ready to move on.

Charmai, now 21, became emotionally involved with Turley, a former Mesa Dobson High School teacher.

Charmai said the relationship started when she was just 16.

Turley was arrested back in December.
