PHOENIX -- Crews were called to a house fire that reportedly has spread to a second home in the neighborhood of Seventh Street north of Union Hills Drive.
The fire was bumped up to a first alarm, which means more crews were called out.
It happened just after 8 a.m. at Fifth Street and Topeka Drive. Smoke was pouring from every corner of the first home when firefighters arrived, and flames were visible from the roof.
Video from NewsCHopper 3 showed a huge hole in the roof of the home where the fire started.
Flames reportedly spread to a neighboring home. In addition, the flames and heat were so intense they reportedly blew out the windows of that second home.
The fire was a stubborn one, but crews were able to bring things under control in about 30 minutes.
Phoenix firefighters say the home is a total loss.
The family who lived in the home that caught fire reportedly had just moved in.
No injuries were reported.
