PHOENIX -- The Phoenix News Times could be in trouble again, this time over photos it published -- of a naked child.

The police department is trying to determine whether it should open a criminal child pornography investigation.

The photos in question show the children of Tempe artist Betsy Schneider in various states of undress, even nude.

In the article that went with the photos, Phoenix New Times editor Amy Silverman talked about how Schneider's work pushes the envelope of cultural acceptance.

The police are gathering opinions from city, county and state prosecutors as to whether the artist or the paper violated any laws.
