SUN CITY -- An explosives team was called out to a bank near 107th and Peoria avenues Friday morning after a woman left a bag on a counter during a robbery.
According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, a woman walked into the Wells Fargo branch and gave a teller a note that demanded large bills and indicated that the suspect had a bomb.
The teller gave money to the suspect, including a bundle of money containing a "dye-pack."
The suspect placed a package on the teller's counter and left the bank in an unknown direction.
The contents of the bag were not known so an explosives team was called in.
A robot went into the bank to detonate the device, which turned out to be a bag of potatoes.
The suspect is described as a black female, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build and straight shoulder-length hair. She is in her mid-20s to early 30s. She was wearing a brown hat with an Interstate Batteries logo and a green long-sleeved shirt.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect should contact the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office at 602-876-1000.
