2-yr-old suffers trauma, mom's boyfriend taken into custody

The following news release was sent by the Surprise Police Dept.:

PHOENIX - On Friday, December 12, 2008, Detectives from the Surprise Police Department arrested 23 year old , Steven Doyle II, for three felony counts of Child Abuse and one count of Resisting Arrest. Surprise Police Detectives, assisted by agents from the U.S. Marshall’s Office located Doyle in the area of 28th Avenue and Thunderbird, Phoenix Arizona.

23-year-old Steven Doyle II faces child abuse and resisting arrest charges.

Doyle; the boyfriend to the mother of the injured child, was sought for an outstanding Child Abuse warrant after investigators learned that he was caring for the two year old child, who suffered severe head trauma while in his care.

The child is being cared for at a local hospital, and the case remains under investigation with Child Protective Services assisting.
