PHOENIX – Former Arizona State and NFL player Danny Villa is in police custody after his arrest on charges that he raped a child.
Villa was arrested in Tucson Saturday night, one day after a warrant was issued for him in Massachusetts.
Police say Villa faces three counts of raping a child over the age 14 and three counts of enticing a minor. He will likely be extradited to Massachusetts on those charges where he is a high school football coach.
Villa played offensive line in the NFL for 12 seasons including for the Arizona Cardinals in 1992.
He also starred at ASU from 1984 to 1986.
