PHOENIX - A violent exorcism in the Valley two years ago is back in the headlines.
3TV teamed up with Phoenix Magazine to tell you about some new developments.
A memorial marks a bizarre exorcism in Phoenix. The exorcism involved a Valley family, a 3-year-old little girl at the hands of her mother Cynthia and grandfather Ronnie Marquez. Phoenix police were called to the home in the early morning of July 28, 2007. They found the family barricaded in a bedroom.
A new report in Phoenix Magazine reveals Cynthia was naked and bloody and holding a picture of the Pope.
It was during this encounter that police tased the grandfather and he died shortly after.
3TV did an interview with Marquez's brother, Frank, shortly after he died. Since then not much has been heard about this case, until one woman did a little investigating of her own.
Terry Greene Sterling is a contributing editor for Phoenix Magazine. She says this bizarre case has taken another twist after a lawsuit was filed this past June.
Tasers have been in the news before but Sterling says Taser International told her that they have had many lawsuits filed against them and have won every single one, except one. This case revolves around religion, the power of police and big business.
Phoenix Magazine details it all in their new issue. It hits newsstands Thursday morning.
