Drowning victim was 26-year-old

LAKE PLEASANT - Tragedy hit an Arizona lake with the drowning of an Iraq war veteran.

The victim was 26-year-old Warren Burgess Jr. who drowned in Cotton Cove at Lake Pleasant around 9 a.m. Saturday morning. Cotton Cove is near the lake's RV parking area.

Investigators said Burgess was not a good swimmer. His girlfriend tried to help him when he started having trouble. Two off-duty firefighters also tried to resucitate him but it was too late.

Police tell 3TV Burgess was from Buckeye and was an Iraq war vet who was in the process of re-enlisting.
