Police investigate kidnapping in west Mesa neighborhood

The following is a news release from the Mesa Police Department:

MESA -- On January 18, 2008 at 5:45 a.m., the Mesa Police Department responded to the report of an alleged kidnapping in the 1200 block of East Elton Avenue.

Police ask for public's help to find vehicle

According to a witness, three Hispanic males forced entry into a residence and confronted two victims, one a 29-year-old Hispanic male and the other, a 20-year-old Hispanic male. At the time of the kidnapping the suspects threatened the victims with a gun. The suspects bound the victim’s and took the keys to their vehicle. The victims were forced outside and into the victim’s vehicle. The suspects and victims left the scene in the victim’s vehicle, which has not been located up to this point in the investigation. The suspects in this case are described as three Hispanic males, medium build, possibly in their late twenties.

Investigators do not believe that the kidnapping is a random act, however details are not being released in order to preserve case integrity and follow up with any leads that may have developed. The victim’s vehicle is described as a yellow 2003 Chevy Avalanche with an Arizona license plate number of 624YZK and a black bed cover.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. Anyone who locates the victim’s vehicle is asked to dial 911 immediately.
