MESA -- A Chandler man who police say shot and killed his children before killing himself left two suicide notes, according to a search warrant inventory.

Police found the bodies of 43-year-old Robert Roberts and his two children, 4-year-old Carleigh and 6-year-old Michael, in Roberts' Chandler home on Nov. 15.

The recently released search warrant inventory shows that all three were shot in the head with a semiautomatic handgun.

Police would not say what was written in Roberts' suicide notes, but records show he discussed "taking the children to heaven with him."

Other items police took from the home include the children's "Finding Nemo" and "Little Mermaid" blankets and two white pillows with gunpowder burns.

Roberts had a history of threatening suicide and had been going through a divorce with the children's mother.
