The rider was wearing a helmet, but died on the scene.

It happened near Power and Williams Field roads late Tuesday night.

According to Gilbert police, the motorcycle rider was running from sheriff's deputies when the bike crashed.

While the investigation was initiated by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Officer, the Gilbert Police Department has taken over.

While the driver, whose name has not been released, was wearing a helmet, it was not enough to save his life. The man died on the scene.

Police are trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the accident, but they're still not sure what exactly caused the wreck.
