Accused child sex predator captured
04:31 PM Mountain Standard Time on Wednesday, April 4, 2007
A man accused of molesting three young girls was arrested in Florida, Phoenix police say.
Jack O'Neill, 46, allegedly performed sexual acts on two family members and one of their friends over the course of two years.
Police say O'Neill started out slowly, asking the children to do things they wouldn't normally do, like swear.
O'Neill would allegedly feign having tape recorded the children swearing and use the so-called recordings to manipulate children into kissing him, police say.
The accused predator then used fear and intimidation to escalate into more sexual acts against the children's will.
According to America's Most Wanted Web site, O'Neill may have even forced one of the victims to act as a lookout while he molested another.
One of the victims reported the alleged crimes to Child Protective Services. Once the alleged crimes were reported, the suspect's wife reportedly helped him flee and wasn't heard from since November.
Authorities say that O'Neill hasn't had legitimate work in years, instead working as a handyman and "carnie" at carnivals. He is also known to hang out at sports bars.
O'Neill is currently facing 12 counts of molestation and sexual conduct with a minor.
