Mom says teen accused in school terror plot is victim of bullying
12:46 PM Mountain Standard Time on Wednesday, April 4, 2007
The mother of a Mesa teen facing terrorism charges painted a familiar picture about her son being picked on at school and she said she's outraged about the whole investigation.
Brent Clark, 14, allegedly brought a knife to Powell Junior High School last month.
He reportedly had a backpack full of weapons, chains and rope.
Investigators say he briefly kidnapped a student and told officers he wanted to take his entire class hostage.
On Tuesday afternoon, Clark's mom called in to KTAR's Pat McMahon Show to talk about it.
"What the public does not know is that we have discovered that he has been bullied at school for almost a year," Danette Reed said. "No one is willing to investigate that allegation."
Reed said she and her husband were the ones who called the police, hoping the juvenile system would help their son out.
However, now Clark is facing prosecution as an adult and may go to prison if convicted.
