Group ranks Arizona low in highway safety
12:14 PM Mountain Standard Time on Tuesday, January 9, 2007
The state Legislature may want to put highway safety on the top of its to-do list for this year's session.
That's because Arizona got one of the lowest rankings in the annual highway safety report from the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety.
The group felt the Legislature made little to no progress in passing new highway safety laws to prevent injuries in accidents like the one on Highway 85 near Buckeye last Thursday.
While no state received a perfect rating, four states were labeled as "best performance states." They were Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois and Kentucky.
