Graffiti hurts East Glendale neighbors

04:20 PM Mountain Standard Time on Thursday, October 19, 2006

The statement "White Power" and a swastika were plastered on a wall in a Glendale neighborhood this morning. It hurt some neighbors so much, but tonight, it's gone.

Neighbors said they saw the writing on the wall. The statement that was written was just the beginning of possibly bigger problems. That's why they took care of it as soon as possible.

Hate tried to leave its mark on the East Glendale neighborhood.

The power of the community watch program is greater than the power of this type of expression.

"I feel like it's a threat to the neighborhood,” said Victoria Gough. “We've just got to do something. We absolutely have to do something.”

And Gough did. She called police.

An officer wrapped up his investigation shortly before graffiti busters arrived.

The devilish red statement and slur were gone in just seconds.

Tonight, the Mountain View meadows neighborhood is graffiti-free and people here say they're going to do everything they can to make sure it stays that way.
