One of the men accused of using the Internet to lure a young girl in Mesa faces 20 years in prison.

His arrest is a warning for all parents.

Some people may find the content of the story offensive, but it is a reality today as so-called child predators surf the Web searching for new victims.

Often, they frequent chat rooms designed especially for teenagers.

Just as they are sending their child out into the real world, they need to know what their child is doing online and in an online world.

That world is Sgt. Stephanie Molina's beat, and it can be treacherous for kids, even the innocent- appearing boy's band chat room where someone is claiming to be a 16-year-old boy.

"It's an adult that's home. He's going to pretend he's 16. He's going to start talking about sex so we can be two teenagers talking about sex, but he'll be doing his business," Molina said.

Molina poses as a 13-year-old girl from Mesa as she traverses her cyber beat where a pervert is only a click away.

"Here is somebody who is 13 or 14. Here is a teenage girl who will watch me masturbate on Web cam and what a thrill is it for him and maybe if he keeps the relationship open, I'll be here tomorrow," Molinas said.

Molina was the lead investigator in the case of Robert Dennis Bixler. The 49-year-old traveled to Mesa from his New Mexico home to meet Molina who was posing as a 13-year-old girl. Bixler sent Molina child and adult pornography during their cyber encounters.

"That's exactly what kids are facing today. They go into a boy's band chat room or any kind of music chat room - their favorite musician and they will be inundated with unsolicited requests for sex," she said.

As we all know, the Internet can be a rich source of knowledge. But as we are finding out, it can also be a sinkhole of perversion where children are preyed upon.

"If they get on the Internet in a chat room, they are going to get solicited for sex," she said.
