Police are investigating a Thursday night hit-and-run that left a man in a coma at a Valley Hospital.

According to police, 21-year-old Nick Ruppert was run down as he was crossing Scottsdale Road around 10 p.m. He had just left work at Kerr Center in Scottsdale where he is a box office attendee.

Ruppert is a communications major at ASU with a passion for writing, family members said.

Police believe that since the intersection is very busy someone likely saw something.

Police are now searching for the driver of a silver, compact SUV. It most likely has damage to the front end, officers said.
