TUCSON, Ariz. -- Two women were arrested this week after border patrol agents discovered that they were carrying methamphetamine inside buckets of chicken.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the women were passengers on a commercial shuttle van when they were apprehended Thursday morning at the I-19 checkpoint.
Nogales Border Patrol agents located a total of six bags of methamphetamine inside the two buckets. The drugs weighed nearly six pounds and had an estimated street value of $58,700.
The methamphetamine was turned over to the DEA, while the women now face federal prosecution.
