PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say an Arizona couple allegedly arranged to sell their unborn child in Utah.

The medical staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center noticed the couple from Mesa in the facility on Saturday night and notified authorities.

Alison and Gary Stuckey have not been charged or arrested, but a Utah judge granted a protective order last week on behalf of the child.

Under Utah law, officials say the Department of Child and Family Services is not allowed to become involved until the baby is born and protective needs are identified.

Authorities say the Stuckey family has three other children in foster care in Arizona. A hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday to address the matter in the Salt Lake City Courts.
