PHOENIX (AP) — A suspect is in custody in connection with a drive-by shooting in northwest Phoenix that killed two teenagers.

Phoenix police announced Monday evening that 22-year-old Carlos Rodriguez-Espinoza is being held on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder.

He's also facing charges of endangerment, drive-by shooting and being a prohibited firearm possessor.

Authorities didn't immediately know if Rodriguez-Espinoza has an attorney yet.

Police say 18-year-old Jason Jonathan Acosta-Ramos and 16-year-old Elliseo O. Cantu died as a result of the shooting that erupted around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The shooting occurred as the party to celebrate Acosta-Ramos' birthday was breaking up.

Four others were wounded in the shooting, including three other teens.

The arrest came after Cantu's family pleaded with the public to come forward with information about the fatal attack.
