PHOENIX (AP) — A state criminal investigator has filed a lawsuit against Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne and his top aide.
Margaret "Meg" Hinchey claims Horne and Chief Deputy Eric "Rick" Bistrow continue to retaliate against her and have ruined her reputation and ability to do her job.
Hinchey previously told the FBI that the state's top prosecutor may have participated in illegal campaign activities.
Horne has called the allegations "false, absurd and completely without merit."
Hinchey alleges Horne and his staff sought to destroy investigative materials and retaliated against her after she reported the information to the FBI.
She filed a $10 million notice of claim in the case in June. That's a precursor to a lawsuit.
The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/XEN8gb) says Hinchey filed her suit Tuesday. It seeks unspecified damages.
