PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — The demotion of a Peoria police officer who posted on Facebook a photo of an apparent bullet-riddled T-shirt with a likeness of President Barack Obama has been upheld.

KPHO-TV reports (http://bit.ly/SKXkms) that a city board Monday night held the demotion of Patrick Shearer from patrol sergeant to officer.

In February, Shearer was demoted to officer and suspended two weeks without pay after he briefly posted a photo of a bullet-riddled image of Obama on Facebook days before the president's visit to Chandler.

Shearer said he regretted his action and agreed that discipline was warranted, but he had called a demotion to the rank of officer excessive.

The city's three-person personnel board Tuesday reduced his suspension to 40 hours.
