PHOENIX (AP) — A Phoenix woman is in custody on suspicion of child abuse after her year-old child fell from a second-story balcony.
Authorities say 23-year-old Elizabeth Montijo was arrested Monday.
The Arizona Republic (http://bit.ly/XbLJir) says Montijo's child crawled through the open sliding-glass door to her apartment's balcony and fell approximately 10 to 12 feet.
The child was taken to a hospital by Phoenix Fire Department officials, but suffered no serious injuries.
Authorities also arrested the woman on suspicion of possession and use of marijuana after she admitted to smoking marijuana earlier Monday.
They say Montijo's apartment had open bottles of alcohol in the kitchen and prescription pills in bottles on the floor.
It was unclear Tuesday whether Montijo had a lawyer yet for her case.
