TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities are searching for the mother of a newborn girl who was found inside a duffel bag at a midtown Tucson apartment.
KVOA-TV says the bag was left on the doorstep about 8 p.m. Saturday and someone rang the apartment's doorbell.
The Tucson Fire Department transported the girl to a hospital, where medical staff confirmed the baby is in good health and estimated to be no more than four to six days old.
The baby has been released to the custody of the state Child Protective Services.
The mother's identity isn't known, but police said Monday that they would like to ensure that she's not in need of medical attention.
