PHOENIX (AP) — A man accused of fatally running over someone outside a north Phoenix elementary school has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 31-year-old Anthony Parrinello entered his plea Thursday to a second-degree murder charge. His next scheduled court date is Oct. 17.

Phoenix police say Parrinello got into a fight with 42-year-old Carmelo D'Alessandro on Aug. 13 at the Canyon Springs Elementary School.

Parrinello allegedly wanted to settle a disagreement with a fist fight at a nearby parking lot, but D'Alessandro decided to walk home instead.

When D'Alessandro didn't show up at the parking lot, police say Parrinello went looking for him and allegedly ran him over with his car.

D'Alessandro later died at a Phoenix hospital. Police say they found D'Alessandro's blood on Parrinello's car.
