MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Medical marijuana dispensary operators are ready to open after a judge tossed a lawsuit blocking the drug's medical use.
The East Valley Tribune (http://bit.ly/wRVYmn ) reports people wanting to open dispensaries have been checking with cities to make sure they can move quickly if they are issued state licenses this summer.
Tempe and Mesa were flooded with applications. Tempe had about 50 applications, while Mesa fielded 35. Chandler and Gilbert had only a few applications per city.
It all came to a halt when Gov. Jan Brewer's staff filed a lawsuit to block the Arizona Department of Health Services from accepting dispensary applications. Last month, a federal judge threw out the suit and a Maricopa County court ordered the Department of Health Services to take applications.
