PHOENIX – A worker at Sky Harbor International Airport had to be rescued after getting pinned in a baggage carousel conveyor belt Tuesday morning.
The man was working on the baggage carousel when he got his hand and part of his leg pinned in the conveyor belt, according to Capt. Jorge Enriquez with the Phoenix Fire Department.
Dawn Patton, who was working nearby, heard the man screaming and someone yelling for a knife.
"He was screaming bloody murder," according to Patton.
Patton said she cut the belt with scissors as other employees tried to get the man out. Another worker called 911.
The victim was pinned downstairs below the conveyor belt in a very tight area, according to Enriquez. Fire crews were able to extricate him.
The man was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The extent of his injuries is not known at this time.
