Woman severely beaten in Phoenix; video shows suspicious person in area

PHOENIX -- Police investigating an attempted homicide from July 5 are seeking information about a suspicious person walking near the scene.

According to Phoenix police, Virginia Lynn Dashkovitz, 46, was severely beaten by an unknown suspect or suspects along the Black Canyon access road just south of Camelback Road between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m.

Dashkovitz, a transient, was found unresponsive with life-threatening injuries. She remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

A suspicious person wearing baggy pants and a dark T-shirt was captured on surveillance video in the area at the time of the assault. The video shows the person walking with a significant limp.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or silentwitness.org. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered.
