PEORIA -- The woman who police say was run down by her father in a Peoria parking lot died Monday.
According to the Peoria Police Department, Noor Faleh Almaleki, 20, died as a result of injuries suffered on Oct. 20 when she and Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, were run down by Faleh Hassan Almaleki.
Detectives said Almaleki was mad at his daughter for becoming too "westernized" and not living according to their traditional Iraqi values.
After the incident, Almaleki, 48, drove to Mexico where he abandoned his Jeep. Officials there found and seized the vehicle.
Almaleki made his way to Mexico City where he boarded a plane to London, however, he was denied entry into the country. The United Kingdom contacted United States authorities and Almaleki was placed on a plane back to the U.S.
He was arrested Friday afternoon upon his arrival in Atlanta and returned to Peoria on Saturday.
Almaleki was originally booked on two counts of aggravated assault, but police spokesman Mike Tellef said the charges will be upgraded.
Khalaf suffered serious physical injuries and remains in serious but stable condition.

Even if it is his culture because of shaming the family this is the Unite States and we do not, DO NOT treat women with disrespect because of culture. We woman have right in the Unite States. Which everyone has to follow regardless of where their from. He need to pay for what he did just like those kids that rape the 8 year old. there culture with do respect is theirs in their own country and does not apply to the Unite States. Just think if everyone from a different countyr would come down and carry on there believes from their country. We need to show that we have laws that need to be followed by everyone regardles from where their from. Womens Rights.

Sad thing is, is that it is free enough here to believe what you want to, whether or not it involves this country or somewhere else. Maybe the family moved here too soon. IDK. Either way, it's not acceptable, and he should definitely be punished for killing his own daughter in that horrible manner.

What a man. Runs his daughter down and then tries to run and hide like the coward that he is. Such a sad story. Sure hope he gets what he deserves. Live in this country live by our standards....don't like it GET OUT!

He killed his own daughter because she wasn't Iraqi enough and he was disgraced. These are referred to as honor killings. But, what honor is it to flee the country to avoid being prosecuted for doing something that is supposed to bring honor back to his family?? Seems a tad screwed up to me.

I used to work with NOOOORA at Chipotle Mexican Grill. I remember Noor told me once that she thaught that her family was going to kidnap her and take her back to Iraq and kill her their. She was very afraid of her father. Her family would stock her for hours in the parking lot. One day we were working the line and she went to the restroom all of the sudden and came out in teirs. When we were on break I asked her if she was ok? and she said that her family was being mean to her and threatening her. she later on told me that her family had aranged a maradge for her and she did not want to marry him cuz she liked someone els. I told her that in the United States of America you have every right by the law to marry who you choose and to worship any god you choose and I told her to enjoy that freedom while it lasts cuz when the New World Order takes place that freedom will end... She was very humble,sweet and never judged anyone. She is now walking with the true god RIP NOOR your safe now...
