SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. -- A woman was hit by a pickup truck and killed while walking in a San Tan Valley neighborhood Thursday morning.

It happened shortly after 6:30 a.m. in an area near Hunt Highway and Gary Road.

According to Tim Gaffney of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office, Llamado Novelo was out for a morning walk with her adult daughter.  As the pair crossed the driveway of a home, a pickup backed out and hit Novelo. She was pronounced dead at the scene, which is  just eight or nine houses from her own home.

Novelo's daughter, who name has not been released, was not hurt.

The driver, Anthony Adams, 32, said he never saw the two women as he put this truck into reverse and started backing out of the driveway.

Aerial video of the scene showed Adams' white pickup truck partially on the sidewalk.

Investigators said neither alcohol nor drugs appear to have been factors in the incident. They are calling Novelo's death a "very tragic accident."
