PHOENIX – For the first time, 3TV is hearing from people who knew a woman killed by her boyfriend.
Jacqueline Rae Dodge was a loving mother who spent her nights caring for others.
A man walked up to police officers to confess the crime on Tuesday. Neighbors put a few candles in front of the home where police say Hermenegildo Morffah brutally killed his girlfriend.
According to police, Morffah got into a fight with her, killed her and then drove down the street to confess to a few police officers he saw.
Rosalee Taylor lives next door. She says they seemed like a nice sweet couple and would borrow her lawnmower from time to time.
Dodge had two young boys. She worked nights at Hospice of the Valley so she could spend more time with them. Hospice of the Valley Executive Director Susan Levine tells 3TV, “She was special.”
The employees there deal with grief and loss on a regular basis. However they say this tragic murder has been incredibly difficult.
One neighbor says the couple was arguing in the front yard earlier the day she was killed.
