PHOENIX and CAVE CREEK -- Thousands of people are waking up without power after Mother Nature ripped through the state with a winter storm the included high winds, lots or rain, snow in the high county and even a tornado watch and two warnings.

APS said that early Friday morning, about 3,200 people were without power. Some 1,800 of those are in Cave Creek.

By 7 a.m., APS said that number was down to 1,500.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 customers in Flagstaff lost power last night. Electricity has since been restored.

Down here in the Valley, the concern is that the ground is so saturated that utility poles could simply toppled over.
