PHOENIX (AP) -- Football games, soccer tournaments and parades have all been cancelled after a strong storm system left Arizona a soggy mess, but forecasters say the state can expect more rain and snow through the weekend.
Flood waters started to recede in some areas late Friday after a day of record rainfall, but a flood watch remained in effect Saturday for much of south-central Arizona.
Winter weather advisories were also issued by the National Weather Service for the Flagstaff and Grand Canyon areas. Snowplows were busy trying to clear icy roads throughout northern Arizona.
In Tucson, firefighters on Friday recovered the body of a man who was swept away by high water in the Santa Cruz River.
Authorities were also warning drivers to be careful as 8,400 cyclists turned out for the annual El Tour de Tucson. Much of the course was soaked.
