PHOENIX -- New regulations from the federal government could mean Arizonans will soon be paying more for water.

The Environmental Protection Agency might enforce new rules that will require the Navajo Generating Station to install some expensive new air-scrubbing equipment to reduce emissions.

The station plays a big role in moving water between Phoenix and Tucson.

The EPA rules are meant to reduce emissions from the plant.

The owner of the plant says the cost of the system could push power rates out of reach for users, including the Central Arizona Project canal.
