SCOTTSDALE -- Two Scottsdale schools were placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after a man theatened his family with violence at a nearby home.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., Scottsdale police were called to a home near Oak and 74th streets in reference to a family fight.

Joe Connors,65, told his 62-year-old wife and 26-year-old son that he was going to get a gun so they fled the home.

Police learned that there were two handguns inside the home.

SWAT members got the barricaded man to surrender peacefully and he was taken into custody.

Connors was booked pending a threats/domestic violence charge.

Sierra Vista Academy and Coronado High School were placed in a modified lockdown as a precaution. The lockdown was lifted at 12:20 p.m. and the schools resumed their normal schedule.
