PEORIA -- Police say the driver who hit two women in a Peoria parking lot on Tuesday is the father of one of the victims.

According to the Peoria Police Department, two women were run down by a Jeep Cherokee in a parking lot near 89th Avenue and Peoria Road at approximately 2:05 p.m. Tuesday. After hitting the victims, the suspect fled the scene going west on Peoria Avenue.

The victims were transported to a Valley trauma center where Noor Faleh Almaleki, 20, was reported to have life-threatening injuries and Amal Edan Khalaf, 43, had non-life threatening injuries.

After talking with family and friends, police detectives learned that Faleh Hassan Almaleki, 48, of Glendale, was the driver and he is the father of the younger victim.

Police say Almaleki is currently living with Khalaf in Surprise.

According to police spokesman Mike Tellef, detectives say Almaleki was mad at his daughter for becoming too "westernized" and not living according to their traditional Iraq values. He also reportedly had made threats toward her.

Police are looking for Almaleki, who was driving a gray or silver 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee during the hit-and-run. The vehicle's Arizona license plate is ADS-9192.

If anyone has information on this case or knows where police can find Almaleki, call Silent Witness or the Peoria Police Tip Line at 623-773-7045.
