SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – A toddler drowned in a pool in Scottsdale Wednesday morning.

Family members were attempting CPR when Scottsdale police and paramedics arrived at the home near Pima and Pinnacle Peak roads around 10 a.m.

Scottsdale police Sgt. Mark Clark said the 2-year-old slipped away from adult supervision and was found unconscious in the pool, which does not have a continuous barrier.

The child was transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Shea Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

It is unknown how long the girl was in the water.

The family is from out of state and was renting the home for summer vacation, according to Scottsdale Fire Department Division Chief Jay Ducote. Eleven people are staying at the house.

Police are still investigating the incident.
