PHOENIX -- Crews from the Phoenix Fire Department were able to quickly knock down a fire at a tire shop on Glendale Avenue at Interstate 17 Thursday morning.
The fire broke out at about 9:30 a.m. and black smoke could be seen for miles.
Phoenix fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs said three people in the business tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher but were unable to get back to it.
Firefighters arrived within three minutes of getting the call and found a large amount of smoke billowing out of the building.
Jacobs said the fire was in a corner of the building's warehouse where tires are kept. Crews were able to knock down the fire and keep it from spreading to the business office.
Jacobs said there was severe damage to a portion of the warehouse and some property loss.
No one was injured.
At this time, there is no word as to the cause of the fire.
