PRESCOTT, Ariz. -- Thousands of people filled the football stadium at Prescott High School Tuesday evening. They were all there to pay their respects to the 19 firefighters who lost their lives Sunday in the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Special seats were reserved in front for Prescott Firefighters and immediate family members of the firefighters who died. Emotional tributes filled the night.

"These men were heroes, and today, these men are heroes," said one speaker at the memorial service. "We will tell their children for years to come that your daddy, he was a hero."

The crowd released balloons into the air during the service. Many of those who attended also left flowers, candles and signs in honor of the fallen firefighters.

"You don't know what to do," said Rob Perkins, who attended the service. "You want to do stuff but you just don't know what to do. There's nothing you can do. You're not going to bring them back. We just try to be there for the families and help out as much as we can."
