TEMPE -- The Tempe Police Department has released a sketch of a suspect involved in the death of an Arizona State University student last month.

Police are seeking information that will lead to the identification and apprehension of the suspect responsible for the death of Kyleigh Sousa, 21, who was dragged by a car during a purse-snatching.

According to Tempe police, Sousa was walking with a friend to the International House of Pancakes near Apache Boulevard and Mill Avenue at approximately 2 a.m. on May 26 when they were approached by a newer model silver Chrysler 300 driven by a heavyset Hispanic man.

While speaking with Sousa, the suspect grabbed her purse. Tempe police Sgt. Steve Carbajal said Sousa became entangled in her purse straps and was dragged for a distance by the vehicle as the suspect fled the scene.

Sousa died from her injuries.

Carbajal said investigators believe there were others in the vehicle at the time of the incident. Police are asking those individuals and anyone else with any information to come forward.

Anyone with information regarding this crime can call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
