PHOENIX -- Phoenix police are looking for two people after a teen was shot near 33rd Avenue and Bell Road Tuesday afternoon.
Phoenix police Detective James Holmes said a 19-year-old man was shot in a strip mall parking lot at approximately 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The victim suffered at least three gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Officers learned the victim had arrived in the parking lot in a blue four-door Mercury. Moments later another vehicle arrived and the suspect exited the passenger side of that car and entered the victim's vehicle.
Witnesses said there was some activity in the car and then the suspect got out of the vehicle while firing a handgun at the victim.
Holmes said the suspect fled on foot through the parking lot and was picked up by the female driver. The victim made his way to the sidewalk where he collapsed.
Officers found a handgun and what appeared to be illegal drugs inside the victim's car.
The suspect and driver are still on the loose. The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, 160 pounds with a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black hat and a white shirt.
The driver, who police are calling a person of interest, is described as a white female with brown hair and red streaks. The suspect vehicle is a silver or gray four-door sedan with a black bra on the front.
The investigation is continuing.
