MESA -- A Mesa teen was assaulted by an intruder when she got home from school Monday afternoon, and now police have given that suspect a face.

According to the Mesa Police Department, a woman came home around 4 p.m. and found her 16-year-old daughter lying face down on the floor.

Detective Michael Melendez said the teen had been home from school only a few minutes when she encountered a suspect in the hallway of her home near Ellsworth and Guadalupe roads. The suspect pushed the girl to the ground before fleeing.

The girl, whose name has not been released, had severe pain in her hip/right leg. She was transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police on Wednesday released a composite sketch of the suspect. They believe he entered the home through the dog door and was possibly going to commit a burglary.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds with short hair. He was wearing a red hat, white T-shirt, jean shorts and work boots.

Anyone with information should contact the Mesa Police Department.
