PHOENIX (AP) -- A Phoenix music teacher has pleaded not guilty to conspiring to have sexual contact with an animal.

The Maricopa County Superior Court says Patrick Stephen Trejo, 25, of Phoenix entered his plea Monday morning.

A judge has set an initial pretrial conference for May 2.

Trejo and a second man, Keith D. Kiefer, of Mesa, are both facing charges.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says the men used the Internet to connect with dog owners who offered their canines for sex. The men were arrested after they allegedly agreed to meet a dog handler at a hotel.

Trejo is on administrative leave from a west Phoenix school.

Kiefer, 47, is an unemployed handyman.
