PHOENIX -- A home in North Phoenix was damaged Sunday morning after a suspected drunk driver attempted to avoid arrest.

The man had reportedly been pulled over by police when he decided to take off.

He led authorities on a short chase before losing control of his vehicle and hitting a house at 31st Avenue and Grovers.

One of the two men inside the house attempted to restrain the driver and his passenger, but they fled the scene on foot.

"I asked them if they were okay," said resident Ryan Martin. "They immediately said we're running from a DUI."

The pair was eventually located and apprehended by police.

Martin and the other man inside the home were not injured during the incident, but their dog was almost harmed.

"The dog was on the couch, got hit by debris," said Martin. "The front door missed her by about a foot."
