GLENDALE -- Residents of a Glendale neighborhood will have the chance to voice their concerns tonight about a plan to turn a former car dealership into a home for ex-cons.

The proposed location for the facility, which would house non-violent criminals who are part of an early-release program, is on Glendale Avenue near 46th Avenue.

The company behind the plan runs similar rehabilitation centers in several other states.

So far, the idea is getting mixed reviews from neighbors.

"I don't have a problem with it because, according to the letter we got, it's not sexual offenders. They're all non-violent offenders," said one man.

A neighbor did not share his opinion.

"I think that would not be a good idea here," she said. "We're all seniors here in this complex and we moved here because of the security they have. To have the halfway house real close, I would not feel safe."

A community meeting to discuss the proposal will be held this evening at 6:00 at the Glendale Civic Center.
