MESA, Ariz. -- An Orange County man suspected of murdering his girlfriend over the weekend is behind bars in Arizona and awaiting extradition to Southern California.
Mesa police arrested Derek Henry Pinski at a relative's home in the area southeast of Eighth Street and Alma School Road Saturday night.
Pinski, 25, is suspected of stabbing Alexandra Tang to death.
Paramedics were called to a Laguna Hills home late Saturday morning. When they arrived, the homeowner was performing CPR on Tang. The paramedics took over but were unable to save the 24-year-old.
Quickly determining the Pinski, who lives Laguna Hills, was a "person of interest" in the case, investigators said Tang was stabbed to death inside the home. Pinski was nowhere to be found.
Mesa police said Pinski was cooperative and taken into custody without incident. He is now awaiting extradition to Orange County.
Investigators with the Orange County Sheriff's Office have not released many details about the crime, saying only that they are not looking for any other suspects and do not believe the public is in any danger.
No other information about Pinski has been made available.
Laguna Hills, which has only been an official city since 1991, is about 30 minutes south of Anaheim, Calif.
