PHOENIX -- Law enforcement is serious about drivers wearing their seat belts.

The annual Click It or Ticket campaign aimed at reducing vehicle crash deaths is under way in Arizona.

Authorities say in 2008, seat belts saved more than 13,000 lives nationwide.

An additional 4,100 lives would have been saved if all unrestrained passenger vehicle occupants five and older involved in fatal crashes had worn their seat belts.

During the May 24 through June 6, campaign, motorists can expect to receive tickets, not a warning, if officers find them out on the roads unbuckled.
