SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- One Valley student has doodled her way to Google’s national contest.

Tracy Zhang was announced as Arizona’s winner in the Doodle 4 Google contest Tuesday. The theme for the contest was to invent something that would make the world a better place, and Tracy, a ninth-grade student at Desert Mountain High School, drew a car powered by natural light.

Her doodle is featured on the Doodle 4 Google site, and it advances to the national competition. The public can vote for Tracy’s doodle until May 9.

If she is chosen as the national winner, she would receive a $30,000 college scholarship and her school would receive a $50,000 education grant. An animated version of the doodle would be featured on the Google homepage on June 9 for 24 hours.

3TV’s Heidi Goitia spoke with Tracy and a representative from Google about the incredible honor.
