GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Police have arrested three suspects in connection with a burglary at a Goodyear church last week.
The three males were arrested after police responded to a separate 911 call Wednesday morning. The suspects were observed fleeing from an unoccupied home near Indian School and Litchfield roads, according to Goodyear police spokeswoman Lisa Kutis.
Detectives said they found property that had been stolen from nearby Desert Springs Community Church as well as graffiti similar to that found in the church.
Profanities and hate crime symbols were spray-painted at the church during the burglary, which occurred sometime between Oct. 16 and Oct. 17. The suspects also damaged walls and other property inside the building.
Stevon Gonzales Jr., 21, and Cody James Heble, 19, were arrested and taken into custody as suspects in the church crime. Charges include aggravated criminal damage and burglary. Rodney Robinson, 18, was arrested for possession of stolen property.
Detectives believe at least one additional suspect is still outstanding.
The estimated loss including damage and stolen property from the church has been upgraded to an estimated $40,000. Kutis said approximately $2,000 in stolen property, including guitars, computer equipment and a handcart, has been recovered so far.
