SHOW LOW, Ariz. -- The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a bird strike Wednesday morning near Show Low.

A twin-engine Ameriflight Beechcraft C99 that departed from Phoenix struck a bird or birds 18 miles west of Show Low, according to the FAA.

Spokesman Ian Gregor said the impact shattered the wind screen. The pilot suffered minor facial cuts but landed safely.

The pilot, who was the only person onboard, was transported to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.

This was the second reported bird strike in Arizona this week. On Monday, a Delta plane flying from Phoenix to Salt Lake City had to make an emergency landing at Sky Harbor International Airport after it hit one or more birds.
